German Jugendstil inkstand by Erhard and Söhne. The inkstand is of rectangular form, made of rosewood with elaborate brass inlays. The cylindrical inkwell (missing insert) with geometric foliate and lattice decoration is flanked by two trays with reticulated galleries, the central section with feather and rosette panel and two five section pen rests. Lion mark with the letter E on the bottom.
The famous German Erhard and Söhne company was established in 1844 in Germany and granted the world patent for the manufacture of brass inlay in 1904.
