This opaque glass with raised rococo scrolls and hand painted enamel flowers was blown in cushion form and is mounted on an ormolu four-legged stand, the legs made with lion face accents.

In 1880, Charles Fabyan Monroe started selling imported glass in Meriden, Connecticut. Soon this evolved into a shop with a decorating studio and a showroom, which he named the C.F. Monroe Company. Much of the glassware was made by Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of Sagamore, Massachusetts, and French factories. Three names were used on the pieces: Wavecrest, registered in 1892; Nakara, which was in use about the same time but never registered; and Kelva, registered in 1904.

Two examples are shown.

Example 1: sold for $861 in December 2023

Example 2: sold for $2026 in June 2013
