An inkwell in the form of the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance home office building in Los Angeles, California. The metal casting of the building captures the neoclassical architectural elements, from the soaring columns in front to the fire escapes on the side. The base reads “PACIFIC MUTUAL LIFE – LOS ANGELES, CAL. – HOME OFFICE BUILDING”. The top is hinged and lifts revealing the glass inkwell inside. The underside of the building is covered by a metal plate. The inkwell was made by the Rehberger Mfg Co. of Chicago.
A second example, made circa 1910 by Whitehead & Hoag Co. New Jersey, has been added. This is a rarer example than the 1930’s Rehberger counterpart.
Rehberger model sold for $315 in December 2020 / Another sold for $375 in August 2025
Whitehead & Hoag example sold for $450 in August 2024
