Papier-mâché – paper pulp mixed with glue then shaped, decorated, and lacquered – was popular in France starting in the 18th century.

The papier-mâché inkstand has two recesses to hold the inkwells with hinged lids.  In the front is a pen channel.  Lacquered black with red and gold decorations.

Sold for $37 in December 2023
