Sterling silver standish with a c-scroll engraved platform features a pen tray engraved with a ribbon design, and a single glass inkwell cut in a diamond pattern and fitted with a sterling silver lid engraved with a matching design. The base is raised on three scroll feet. The base and the inkwell are hallmarked with a lion passant, leopard head (London), date mark “G” within a shield cartouche, and a tariff mark. The maker’s mark is “SC” for Stuart Clifford (London, 1874).
