I believe this molded glass inkwell in a domed, triple buttress form with an iridescent finish should be credited to Wilhelm Kralik. The iridescent finish with aubergine (deep purple) threading is characterized by its chromaticism, which changes according to the angle of light on its surface, and its metallic appearance. The effect was obtained by adding various metal oxides to the base mass of glass. The organic-looking acorn-shaped hinged lid is stamped with a “Deposé” date of 10385 (March 10, 1985) and a D.R.G.M. (German registration) number.
Sold for $311 in March 2013
