18thC Tournai Porcelain Puce Scene Plate Softpaste TOURNAY
FRENCH FAIENCE PORCELAIN INKWELL DESK INK POT (Actually Belgium)
Three (3) quill/pen dip holders and insert.
Marked on base in puce-tournay 1740 with crossed swords and stars (agrees with research-see Inkwell file re history of Tornai, Belgium).
Magnificent and very rare hand painted tournay/tounai softpaste faience porcelain inkwell, stunning puce hand-painted enamel coastal water village scene with boats around body with crest of roses, and gilt enamel accents around rim, multiple quill holders and fitted porcelain insert in central.
Wellcasting is crisp, surface is clean, and detailing is superb; puce is rich and vibrant, scenic decor is exceptionally well-detailed….
stand is perfectly proportioned and beautifully balanced.
