Buyer Be Aware – Teleflora Inkwell
Categories | Modern-day Production / Reproduction / "Fake" |
Material | Brass, Glass |
Date or Era | 1980's |
These inkwells were manufactured in Taiwan in the 1980’s for the Teleflora Company. The advertisement on the box reads:
The Inkwell by Teleflora is crafted in an antique European design reminiscent of classic 18th-century inkwells. Created for those times you write to someone very special, the rich, solid brass Inkwell captures the romantic spirit of centuries past. To use the Inkwell, simply fill the glass reservoir with ink.
Teleflora is the world’s largest independently owned flowers-by-wire service. The Inkwell is one of the many high quality gift items Teleflora provides to over 16,000 professional Teleflorists nationwide. You’ll find many other unique gift items at your local Teleflorist. So, stop by soon.
With the inkwell, there was a white ballpoint pen. Today one finds these Teleflora Inkwells on the internet (without the box and ballpoint pen) deceptively described as antiques. Why would anyone want this Taiwanese “Inkwell”, when one could display a genuine (and far more interesting) antique inkstand? It’s all a matter of taste – just be aware of what you’re buying.
