This tartan ware combined inkstand and writing slope is finished in a traditional “Royal Stuart” clan red and green tartan. The top of the inkstand has recessed pen trays to the front and back. There are two insets where the inkwells sit. The inkwells have a sunburst design on the lids and base. There is an arched carry handle in the center.
The bottom section has a recessed brass pull handle and a fine shaped escutcheon plate. This section slides out and opens to reveal a fine green and gilt tooled writing surface with a storage section on one end under the flap. The lock works perfectly with the tasseled key to hold the bottom section into place. The edges are painted black, and the stand sits on shaped feet.
