Art Nouveau style inkstand with a spherical dome of hammered brass serving as cover. Inkpot is made of clear amber bottle glass. Its body is in the form of a segmented obelisk; small spheres are at each upper corner. On the top surface is inlaid a mosaic parquetry of iridescent glass over which are set four scarabs, all facing towards sphere. The sides of the body are cast with four scarabs, all facing towards sphere. The inkstand has a square base with depressed, curving sides with a lip at the outer edge to serve as pen holders. In front, a curved portion of base pulls out to reveal a shallow drawer.
