This WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) silverplated inkstand features a detailed model of the Rumpler Taube monoplane, a pioneering aircraft that holds the distinction of being the first military airplane mass-produced in Germany. This aircraft was a significant innovation in early aviation, known for its distinctive wing shape and its use in military operations during World War I.
Flanking the monoplane are two inkwells, each featuring hinged lids adorned with pineapple finials. The front section of the inkstand is designed as a pen tray. The inkstand bears the WMF mark. Additionally, it is embossed with the word “Alemania,” which is the Spanish term for Germany.
