This inkwell was retailed by the English owned Arthur & Bond of Japan around 1900 in an Anglo-Japanese style. The cube shaped inkwell, made of clear lead crystal, has been covered with an elaborate chased and repoussé decoration in sterling silver depicting a dragon amid clouds. The hinged, cork-filled lid is decorated with an applied dragon. The inkwell is stamped on the bottom with “ARTHUR & BOND” (retailer), “Yokohama” (Designer and maker), “Sterling”.
