This Meissen porcelain inkstand is set upon a rectangular tray with undulating, Rococo-inspired edges. The porcelain is a rich, deep cobalt blue, serving as a luxurious ground for the elaborate decoration. The tray features panels of vibrant, hand-painted floral bouquets, each bursting with a variety of colorful blooms and delicate foliage. These floral reserves are framed by gilding, executed in scrolling patterns typical of the Rococo period.

Resting on the tray are two covered inkwells. These have the same deep cobalt blue glaze and matching hand-painted floral panels framed by elaborate gilding. The inkwells are slightly bulbous in form and are fitted with domed lids. The lids echo the decorative style of the tray, featuring further floral painting and extensive gilt detailing.
