Description:
- Materials: The base is made from variegated marble, featuring a distinctive reddish-brown or deep burgundy hue within its prominent veining and overall coloration, complemented by darker black or grey tones. The central figure, as well as the fittings for the inkwells, are made of bronze.
- Configuration: The inkstand features a double inkwell arrangement, with two lidded circular bronze inkwells positioned on the marble base.
- Central Figure – “The Thinker”: The focal point of the inkstand is the bronze figure situated prominently between the two inkwells. The figure is depicted in a well-known thoughtful, contemplative pose: a male figure, seated, with his right arm resting on his left leg, and his chin supported by his hand. This iconic pose was likely modeled after Auguste Rodin’s famous sculpture, “The Thinker” (Le Penseur).
