The hexagonal shape, or six-sided design, provides a unique and visually interesting base for the inkwell. The cut glass technique involves intricate patterns being cut into the surface of the glass, creating a sparkling and reflective effect.
The blue color of the glass is achieved through the addition of cobalt oxide during the glassmaking process. Cobalt oxide is a blue pigment that imparts a vibrant blue hue to the glass. The concentration of cobalt oxide used can determine the intensity and shade of blue.
