This is an 1850’s era, large size Master ink bottle. The tall, cylindrical bottle shimmers with “whittle-marks” and wavy glass surfaces. The unevenly expanded sides of the bottle vary in the thickness of the glass. The top of the bottle is an applied lip, hand-tooled with sloping double collared lip with an added pour spout. The bottom of the bottle is thick and concave. There is a deeply inset iron pontil scar. The pontil is circular and displays the original iron metal residue.
