This double inkstand exemplifies French craftsmanship, featuring ormolu mounts and Boulle marquetry. The marquetry involves intricate metal inlay on ebonized wood, creating elaborate designs with scrolling foliate motifs and arabesques. The sharp contrast between the golden tones of the metal and the dark wood background highlights the detailed patterns. The ormolu mounts are elaborate, with acanthus leaf designs and four ornate feet. The two inkwells (missing glass) with their separate lids are integrated into the design.
