This gilt bronze inkstand, modeled as a beehive, is formed from wound rope, the hinged lid opening to a glass inkwell. Crawling around the beehive are bees decorated with agate and ormolu. A diamond-shaped lozenge stamp shows the inkstand was made G.B. & Sons (George Betjenmann & Sons) and dates the piece to 1869.
