This inkstand made of spelter metal, depicts a scene with an elephant. The inkstand has an elongated, somewhat irregular base that represents a rocky terrain. A standing elephant is prominently featured on one side of the base. The elephant is depicted with its trunk raised, tusks visible, and textured skin. The inkwell is integrated into a tree stump on the other side of the base. The tree stump has a textured surface to mimic bark and a flat top that serves as a hinged lid for the ink reservoir beneath. The bottom of the inkstand is marked “Austria”.
