The design for this inkstand centers around a broad, shallow bowl, which forms the main base of the inkstand and serves to hold pens and writing paraphernalia. At the edge of this bowl, a dwarf figure is prominently placed. The dwarf is depicted with traditional characteristics: a long, flowing beard, a somewhat mischievous or contemplative expression, and a distinctive pointed hat. His hands are positioned as if he is holding onto the rim of the bowl. The dwarf’s hat is hinged and opens to access the inkwell.
