This is a whimsical bronze inkwell in the form of a jovial figure,  a jester or clown. The figure is depicted standing with his legs apart. His body is somewhat rotund, adding to his comical appearance.

The figure is costumed in a festive coat, featuring details such as layered fabric and a prominent ruffled collar that frames his face. He is holding onto and supported by a cane or baton. His head is topped with a distinctive pointed hat, resembling a clown’s cap or a dunce cap. His face features a broad and friendly smirk.

The inkwell is hinged in the middle, allowing the upper part of the figure’s body to lift open, revealing the ink reservoir within. Stamped on the bottom of one of the figure’s boots is an oval maker’s mark that appears to depict a bumble bee positioned above some letters, possibly “A & G”.
