This brass standish features a cylindrical inkwell with a conical lid, a sander (used for sprinkling sand to dry ink) with a similar design, and a central candleholder. The candleholder has a flared cup to hold the candle and is mounted on a raised, circular platform with concentric rings. All three components are held on an oval base with raised edges and small feet.
