This brass Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) inkstand is characterized by its flowing lines and naturalistic ornamentation.
- Materials and Construction: The entire inkstand is made from brass with detailed castings in a sinuous form. Incorporated in the base is a pen tray.
- Inkwell: The inkstand features a single, prominent inkwell located centrally on the base. The inkwell’s lid is smoothly integrated into the overall design, maintaining the fluid contours of the piece.
- Decorative Elements:
- Rising from the center of the inkstand is a stylized organic motif. This abstract, curvilinear element resembles flowing plant forms or tendrils, with sweeping lines and elegant curves that define the piece’s central axis.
- The base of the inkstand features undulating, naturalistic contours. Extending outwards from either side of the base are decorative, upward-sweeping protrusions. These elements serve purely as ornamental flourishes, integrating seamlessly with the overall organic aesthetic of the inkstand.
