This double inkstand by Erhard & Söhne has a base made of rosewood inlaid with brass. The brass inlay work on the base is intricate, featuring symmetrical patterns and floral motifs that add contrast to the dark wood. The inkstand includes two glass inkwells, each with a brass inlaid lid. The inkwells are recessed into the angular base.
Erhard & Söhne, a renowned German manufacturer, was known for producing high-quality metalwork and decorative items in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Erhard & Söhne was granted the world patent for the manufacture of brass inlay in 1904.
