The inkstand accommodates three main elements:
- Two Glass Inkwells: These are positioned on either side. They have clear glass bodies with a faceted or textured pattern, and ornate lids with a similar decorative motif to the base.
- A Central Element: Located in the middle is a cylindrical container, also made of brass or bronze, with a lift-off lid featuring a matching ornate design. This would have been used for writing accessories.
- A Carrying Handle: A decorative, arched handle rises from the back of the inkstand.
- Pen Channels: depressions on either side of the handle.
