This brass inkwell is shaped in the form of a bull’s head.  The sculpture is highly detailed, capturing the muscular structure of the bull’s face, the texture of its fur around the forehead and neck, its prominent eyes, and its broad snout with visible nostrils. The bull is depicted wearing a detailed collar or harness with buckles and rings around its neck.

The top portion of the bull’s head is hinged along the back of the neck, allowing it to be lifted open to reveal the inkwell within. The inkwell is missing its horns. The openings where the horns would have been attached are on the top of the bull’s head.
