This Black Forest inkstand features a carved St. Bernard dog standing atop a naturalistic base. The dog is rendered with considerable detail, particularly in its fur texture and facial expression. To the right of the dog, there is a carved tree stump, which houses the inkwell. In front is a pen tray.
