This is a hand-carved Black Forest inkwell from Switzerland (Brienz region), depicting a fox. The fox is seated upright, its head slightly tilted, and its front paws resting on a section of a carved log that forms the pen tray. The carving captures the texture of the fox’s fur, and it has expressive glass eyes. The top of the fox’s head is hinged, allowing it to be lifted to reveal the inkwell inside (missing).
